Although Prague has a reputation for stag parties and beer there is a lot more to this beautiful, historic city than just beer and clubs. Although it does produce some great original beers. Prague Overview

The official currency of the Czech Republic is the Czech crown (koruna), abbreviated as , with the international abbreviation CZK. As the official currency the crown is the best to use, although the Czech Republic is part of the European Union the Euro is not widely accepted, some larger shops accept Euros, clubs may accept Euros and even US Dollars but it is advisable to use Czech Crowns as the exchange rates you will be offered a generally not the best. The best place to exchange money is in the banks, or use cash machines(ATM's) NEVER exchange money on the street, if somebody approaches you as you will find the money you end up with is not genuine Czech currency. The exchange booths you see around the main tourist areas generally are not so good either, the high rate you see on the signs outside them is usually the rate they buy Czech crowns at not the much lower rate they sell it at, also 0% commisson normally means there is a set fee for the transaction. So for a fair exchange rate it is best to use the banks. Reuters is a good site for information and to check the exchange rate before you leave for your holiday.
