HOTELS AND ACCOMMODATION

As with most modern cities that attract a lot of tourists Prague has a wide range of accommodation options, from plush 5 star hotels to hostels or serviced apartments. Prices vary with the location and rating of the accommodation, the closer to the centre the hotel or apartment is the more expensive it is. As the public transport around Prague is so good and cheap this need not be a problem, for just a 10 or 15 minute tram ride to the centre you can get very reasonably priced, good accommodation whether you would like to stay in a hotel or apartment.

Hostels are obviously the cheapest accommodation you can get so if you just want a cheap bed for the night they are the best option. A good site to find hostels in Prague is hostelworld.com. Although for not that much more cost you can usually find a hotel or apartment but it will not be on the centre. Apartments give you total flexibility to do what you want when you want. They are usually quite spacious and while usually they do not have 24 hour reception desks when booking and checking in will arrange airport transfers with a reasonable and reliable taxi company for you. Also they normally have a small reception area with business cards and leaflets on local attractions and maps there. It is always worth picking up a map and business card, very useful for finding your way around a back. Maps normally have tram and bus routes on to so are handy if you intend to use public transport. When you check in the receptionist will normally recommend nearby restaurants and sometimes they will tell you of one you can get a discount from for staying in that apartment. Apartments normally have at least basic cooking amenities or more depending on the standard of the apartment, so you can eat whenever you like. Examples of good apartments are Blue River Palace apartments which are in Prague 5, these apartments are well priced spacious apartments about 10 minutes from the centre with all local amenities nearby. There are plenty of shops and restaurants very nearby and the Metro and tram stops are 1 minute walk away, a good place to stay on a lower budget.

Prague Hostel
Much nearer the centre and very, nice spacious apartments are Kings Agency Apartments. These apartments are very well located near the centre so are higher up the price scale but very nice apartments to stay in.Hotels are probably the best place to stay if you want 24 hour services available. They can normally arrange reasonablely priced taxis if they do not have their own drivers whenever you need or want one. Most hotels are also able to arrange day trips for sightseeing or have lots of information available about sightseeing trips and tours. There is also the convenience of a restaurant on site normally as well.
Hilton Prague
The larger hotels will also change money for you, normally at a very reasonable exchange rate. As with pretty much everything in Prague the near the centre the hotel is the more expensive it will be. Hotels are definitely the easiest and most convenient way to stay in Prague especially the 4 and 5 star ones even if you have to pay a little more for the convenience of it.

There are many agencies online you can book you apartment or hotel with, www.pragueholiday.cz is one and www.KingWenceslas.co.uk is another or even easy jet when you book your flights do some good deals.

Although, if you book an apartment it is normally cheaper to go directly to their own website if you can find it. A useful site with customer reviews on is Trip Advisor, it covers hotels from all around the world not just Prague so is worth checking the reviews on where ever you are travelling. Also please leave any experiences, good or bad, you have had in our forum. With time we hope to bluid up a good number of reviews of not just hotels but any other useful information in the forum, it only takes 2 minutes to register, all you need is an email address and user name so please join and contribute, thanks.
