RESTAURANTS

In Prague you can find all types of international restaurants from the finest Italian and French cuisine to Japanese, Korean, Thai, Greek, Scandinavian and Mexican.

If you want to eat at particular "famous" establishment it would be better to make a reservation, particularly at peak periods such as weekends and during the high season.

Original Czech food comprises of roast meat and dumplings which not all tourists necessarily find tasty, but when it's done well, traditional Czech cuisine is worth giving a try.

It is normal to share a table with strangers particularly in less expensive restaurants. It will not be considered rude for another party to join you at your table if seats are free. There is no dress code and you can visit even most luxurious restaurant in casual dress.

Tipping Check your bill if include a service charge (usually around 10%). If it does, then obviously no need to tip twice. Otherwise it is customary to round the bill up to the nearest CZK (ex. you have to pay the bill for 284 CZK and you leave 300 CZK). However, where a service charge has not been included, especially in more luxurious restaurants it is expected you leave 10% of the bill.

Paying your bill: Many restaurants will accept EUR and obviously local currency as well. Paying by credit card is possible generally in all restaurants (except of some cheaper once).

Be aware if you dine (especially at cheaper restaurants), check the bill carefully as overcharging is not something unusual, thought it is not something you would experience at well know restaurants.
If money is not an issue you can sample some of the best gourmet’s restaurants in Prague. One that is well recommended is restaurant Pravda, not very cheap but dishes are amazing combination of art and taste.
