Prague Zoo is said to be one of the best in Europe. It is certainly very large and worth a visit when you are in Prague and is improving all the time. Due to the size of the zoo it is well worth spending a whole day there to be able to see most of what is there. To get to the zoo it is best to get to Metro station C as from here there is a bus service to the zoo running every 10 minutes, use this to avoid all the parking hassle as it is a popular place for visitors. As your tram ticket covers the metro and buses the best way to get to the bus is by metro or tram depending where you are staying in Prague. The entrance price for the zoo is very good value to, 150 CZK for an adult and 100 CZK for children aged 3-15, with group discounts and family tickets also available. The zoo occupies approximately 45 hectares (111 acres) and houses about 4,600 animals that represent 630 species from all around the world. . In 2008 Forbes Traveller Magazine listed Prague Zoo as the 7th best in the world. As it covers such a large area the animals can have large enclosures to live in as you can see in the picture below of the giraffes that have a very large area to roam around in with a good viewing platform for you to see them from.

Prague zoo is very proud of its breeding programme and has had success with various different animals and continues to try and improve conditions for all its animals hopefully leading to more successful breeding.
